Diana Aguilar, CEO of Zarucoffee Corp.
This Viva La Mujer post is admittedly a little different from the previous ones I’ve published. Rather than posting a full feature here (don’t worry, new interviews are coming soon!), I wrote about Diana Aguilar, the CEO of Zarucoffee Corp. and owner of Brooklyn’s Zaruma Gold Coffee, for Food & Wine.

Diana’s story began in Zaruma, Ecuador before making an impact stateside, where she’s made it her mission to introduce as many people as possible to Ecuador’s delicious, high-quality coffee. For years, this mujer de magia has offered specialty, single-origin coffee from all four regions in Ecuador — all of which boast perfect altitudes, climates, and soils for growing coffee — by way of the Zarucoffee brand and, most recently, Zaruma Gold Coffee in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood.
Towards the end of our conversation for the piece, I asked Diana a question I save for all my Viva La Mujer interviews: What advice would she give to those hoping to find success in their field?
“If you have something you do well that you’re passionate about and you know is a good idea, do it. And perseverance,” she told me, adding: “Keep going.”
Chills.
